Govt.’s policy and programme expects to achieve ‘prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali’ goal
General Secretary of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Bishnu Prasad Poudel, has said that the policy and programme brought by the government for coming fiscal year has adopted long-term goal of the government along with immediate goal.
Putting forth his view on policy and programme presented by President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Friday, Poudel shared that the government has brought the policy and programme in order to face challenge created by COVID-19 and with a national campaign of building ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali’.
The policy and programme would make significant contribution in agro production in coming fiscal year and showing eagerness to construct Sunkoshi-Marin-Bagmati diversion project is very crucial, he added.
The NCP General Secretary clarified that expressing determination to forward construction of Birgunj-Kathmandu, Kerung-Kathmandu and east-west rail route is very important.
Similarly, lawmaker Mahesh Basnet shared there was no meaning to protest the policy and programme, saying the policy and programme has addressed the government’s plan of prosperity.
Likewise, Bishal Bhattarai of the NCP demanded to issue the map immediately by incorporating the Nepali territory and supported the policy and programme.
Saying the policy and programme has addressed the overall need of the country and people’s expectation, lawmaker Krishna Gopal Shrestha said the opposition parties have protested the policy and programme only for the protest.
He further mentioned that the policy and programme has given special importance for the development of health and agro sector and it is clear about the nationality.
Another NCP lawmaker Binda Pandey said that incorporating the issue of border security and protecting nationality is the matter of importance, suggesting the government to pay special attention to resolve problems surfaced in health and education sector as well as to develop dignified labour relations.
Nepali Congress parliamentarian Gagan Thapa pointed out the gaps in the policy and programmes stating that the government was not working to revive the corona-hit economy and not prioritizing the issue of relief distribution to the laid off workers from the jobs.
Dilendra Prasad Badu of the same party drew attention of the government to immediately work to construct road infrastructure in Kalapani area and supply the foodstuffs there by helicopter.
Likewise, parliamentarian Bhimsen Das Pradhan praised the government’s move to release the new map of the country by incorporating country’s land encroached by India and also stressed the need for mobilizing Nepal Army in the border site.
However, Rangamati Shahi protested the government policy and programmes saying it was just focused on the ruling party’s cadres.
Lawmaker Parbati DC Chaudhari sought the government’s focus to increase the scope of coronavirus tests of more and more people to control the COVID-19.
Rajendra Kumar KC argued that the government should focus on agriculture and infrastructure development of the health care service.
While Bahadur Singh Lama expressed his disappointment towards the absence of ministers during the deliberations on government policy and programmes in the House, parliamentarians Shanta Chaudhari, Hit Bahadur Tamang, Bimala Nepali, Devendra Kandel, Hirachandra KC, Sujata Pariyar, Pushpa Bhusal, Lalkaji Gujrung, Dibyamani Rajbhandari and others suggested that the government should unveil programmes to create more employment, develop agriculture sector, fight against disaster and effectively implement the unveiled policy and programmes.
The next meeting of the HoR shall convene at 12:00 noon on Tuesday.
