NC big party in Dang

The Nepali Congress has emerged a big party in the May 13 local election in Dang. Of the total 10 local levels, it won five followed by the CPN (Maoist Centre) and the CPN (UML) with three and two to their name respectively.

The UML bagged two Sub Metropolitan City Mayor seats. Narulal Chaudhary won the post of Mayor in Ghorahi Sub Metropolis and Huma DC from the same party became Deputy Mayor. Likewise, Tikaram Khadka and Syani Chaudhary were elected for Mayor and Deputy Mayor posts in Tulasipur Sub Metropolis respectively.

The NC emerged victorious in Lamahi Municipality and secured chair and vice chair seats in Rajpur, Dangisharan, Shantinagar and Babai Rural Municipalities. The Maoist Centre bagged chair seats in Bangalachuli, Rapti and Gadhawa Rural Municipalities. The UML emerged victorious in the post of Vice Chair in Rapti and the NC in Bangalachuli and Gadhawa Rural Municipalities, said chief returning officer, Ritendra Bahadur Thapa.

However, of the total 100 wards, the UML won 40, the NC 37 and the Maoist Centre 19. Similarly, the CPN (Unified Socialist) and the Rastriya Janamorcha bagged one each and independent candidates two.
