Order issued for preventing ‘Omicron’ variant

The government has decided to take necessary precaution to prevent the entry of new variant of COVID-19 ‘Omicron’. The cabinet meeting held on November 29 issued an order regarding the travel management of passengers coming to Nepal from countries where Omicron has been detected.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that the new variant, Omicron, could spread rapidly and cause serious infection. The new variant has been found in South Africa, Australia, Belgium, Germany, Hong Kong, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
Arrangements have been made for passengers coming from countries with reported case of the variant will undergo tests at Tribhuvan International Airport and kept in hotel quarantine, according to spokesperson of the government and Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki.
The meeting decided to form a negotiating team on behalf of the Government of Nepal to receive a concessional loan of 10 billion Japanese Yen (approximately 10.39 billion rupees) from the Japanese government for economic growth and productivity.
The meeting approved the protocol prepared for the agreement between Nepal and China on exporting helix (processed grass) to China.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has given approval to send a diplomatic note to the United Nations to implement the Standard Basic Assistance Agreement between the Government of Nepal and the UNDP. Likewise, a delegation led by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has been formed to participate in the Virtual Summit on Democracy to be organized by the President of the United States on December 9 and 10.
The government has appointed Tankalal Ghising of Sunpati-2, Ramechhap as the member secretary of the National Sports Council.
The meeting has decided to transfer 10 secretaries of gazetted special category. Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers Maheshwar Neupane has been transferred to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Secretary at the Ministry of Urban Development Dr Ramesh Singh to reserve pool, Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yadav Koirala to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Secretary at the Ministry of Education Ram Prasad Thapaliya and the Secretary at the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security Surya Prasad Gautam has been transferred to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
Similarly, Secretary of the Election Commission Suresh Adhikari has been transferred to the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, Secretary at the Water and Energy Commission Maniram Gelal to the Ministry of Urban Development, Secretary at the Ministry of General Administration Yek Narayan Aryal to the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security, Secretary at the Natural Resources and Fiscal Commission Gokarna Mani Duwadi to the Election Commission and Secretary of the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers Bharatmani Subedi has been transferred to the Natural Resources and Fiscal Commission.
