Energy Minister bats for govt, private sector partnership

Minister for Energy, Water Resource and Irrigation Barsha Man Pun has said that the government was ready to encourage and forge partnership with the private sector. At a meeting with the Independent Power Producers’ Association, Nepal (IPPAN) at the ministry on Monday, Pun promised the IPPAN members guardianship role from the government.

According to minister Pun’s secretariat, he stressed for joint efforts as both the government and private sector were at unease due to the pandemic coronavirus infection while stating the new budget was unveiled against the same backdrop.

On the occasion, Pun reaffirmed his commitment to the security of private sector investment and made it clear that the payment of power generated from the private sector was regularly released even though the electricity tariffs was not received from the costumers during this time.

Minister Pun also said that the projects that were failing to advance their construction works due to COVID-19 were also exempted for the delayed duty payment and committed to giving relief to the sick hydropower projects as per the investors’ demand.rss
